About my travels.

Where in the world is Lori?

I wouldn’t call myself the globetrotter my kids have turned into, but I’ve had my fair share of adventures traveling around the world!

I traveled through most of United States and North America in the first 49 years of my life, including the islands of Kauai and O’ahu, Hawaii.  I visited Mexico and a few provinces of Canada.  However, it wasn't until I turned 50, that I experienced my first trip abroad. That first overseas trip didn’t just expand my passport stamps; it transformed the way I viewed the world and ignited a lifelong passion for cultural discovery.   That experience awakened a powerful goal: to see the world not just as a traveler, but as a student of culture, connection, and humanity.— to make cultural exploration a lifelong mission, one destination at a time!

It was 2006, when, as an educator, one of my highest priorities was to promote international awareness and cultural literacy.  Through global projects with other distinguished educators, and the use of Apple technologies, my students and I collaborated with others around the world.   I was fortunate to be selected as part of group of 62 Apple Distinguished Educators, all sharing a common passion for teaching with Apple technologies. We immersed ourselves in cultural experiences, learned from one another, collaborated, and developed a global curriculum in our travel adventures to Berlin, Dresden, and Potsdam in Germany,  as well as Prague, Czech Republic. This trip was a life-changing experience!  (currently working on technically updating that Blog for publication)

In 2007, I traveled through Italy, with my family, discovering the cultural beauty of Rome, Tuscany, Spoleto,  Florence, Venice, Naples, Pompeii, Sorrento, and the Isle of Capri. The following year, 2008, we traveled to London, England, and to the Channel Islands,  Guernsey and Herm.

In 2010, for educational purposes, I traveled to Beijing and Chongqing to visit schools and learn the history and culture of China.

Another transformational global experience for me was from 2015 to 2019,  when I had the opportunity to fully immerse myself in Asian culture through  participation in an international partnership between China and the US.  As an educator and technology specialist, I worked with the Delaware State Department of Education and Wanxiang Polytech University to serve as a lead teacher in a study abroad program for high school students from Delaware. Thanks to the US-China Strong initiative,  under the Obama Administration,  I  traveled  Hangzhou for 1 month each year for 4 years, to facilitate the studies of Language, Culture, and STEM, specifically environmental studies of solar, wind, and electric vehicles. http://delawarechineselincs.weebly.com/
This initiative impacted more than 100 students, who truly gained understanding of the world we share, by learning a  2nd language, experiencing a rich history and culture of civilization in the East, and most importantly, learned science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to improve the environment we live in. These students designed and created innovative projects to present to our legislatures on collaborating with other nations to improve the way we live and protect our environment, through advanced technologies, such as electric vehicles, solar power,  wind farms. You can find these projects on YouTube,  Facebook, and our Interactive Book available on our website.

In September, 2023, I was fortunate to travel to Kyoto, Japan, to celebrate my son as a participant in the 32nd Japan Grand Nationals Martial Arts Tournament.  This trip  provided the opportunity  to travel with my family around Kyoto, then  Fuji and finally, Tokyo where I met my colleague and friend, Masa, principal and global educator that I was honored to work with during  participation in the international project, Rock our World, 2005-2009.

In November 2023, my husband and I traveled to Madrid, Spain and took a train to visit my oldest son, Cameron, living in Alicante.

The following fall, 2024, my husband and I traveled to the  Las Palmas, de Gran Caneria, then to Split, Croatia to spend time along the Adriadic Sea.

In October 2025, on my own, I traveled to
Montenegro,  a beautiful Balkan country with rugged mountains, medieval villages and a narrow strip of beaches along its Adriatic coastline.  From Podgorica, through Budhva,  the gorgeous Bay of Kotor, and finally the luxury coastal region of Tivat, I had an amazing experience.

In December, 2025,  my husband and I met up with our son to spend time together for Christmas, in Greece.  Staying in Voula, a quiet area tucked between glitzy Glyfada and the upscale enclave of Vouliagmeni.  Check out my blog page for pics and details of our adventures there.

My "bucket list" includes traveling to India, Nepal,  and France.

Also on my "to do" list is to update this travel journal with photos and stories from all of these places!

Thank you for taking the time and interest in my life travel journeys.
